Can buyers pay by credit card?

No, buyers cannot pay by credit card. There are multiple reasons:

  • Chargebacks. For months after a credit card payment is made, the buyer can file a chargeback. This causes the funds to be seized from the merchant’s account, even if the funds have already been disbursed.
  • Payment limits. Even commercial credit cards generally do not have high enough limits to pay for more than a small fraction of a business acquisition.
  • Processing fees. Credit card payments are subject to processing fees of around 3%. This fee would need to be paid by the buyer, and most buyers are unwilling to pay this additional fee.

All buyers must pay by wire transfer.
